The boys opened the season with a 10-0 win over Calumet. Cody Hayes stuck out 7 and got the win. Cody also had a home run and 2 hits. Kyle Joyce had 3 hits. Kyle Hernandez had 3 hits including his 8th career triple to tie the all-time record. The team lost to Hobart. Bryce Hanaway and Damon Wallace had Hebron's only hits. The boys beat Wheeler 8-5. Cody Hayes got the win while striking out 10 and Alex Anderson got the save. Kyle Joyce had 2 doubles, Damon Wallace had 2 hits, Cody Hayes had 2 hits and Kyle Hernandez had 2 hits including a triple. HERNANDEZ BREAKS RECORD Kyle Hernandez got his 9th career triple in the game against Wheeler. The hit broke the record of 8 first established in 1956 by LeRoy Urbas then tied by Pat Murphy in 1973 and Dan Wagner in 1974. Kyle also passed Sean Brummett and Bobby Bobowsky to move into a tie for 8th on the career hit list. Kyle is currently tied with Henry Hamann with 91 career hits. Kyle is also now 9th in total bases and 13th in runs batted in and 15th in at bats for his career. Hebron beat Kankakee Valley 6-4 behind a complete game by Damon Wallace. Alex Anderson, Damon Wallace, Cody Hayes and Mike Mikulich all had 2 hits. Cody Hayes had 2 hits and struck out 9 in a 8-1 win over Whiting. Mike Mikulich, Kyle Joyce and Kyle Hernandez all had 2 hits. One of Kyle Joyce's hits was a solo home run. Kyle Joyce pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts in a 3-1 win over North Newton. Kyle also had a double and a triple. Alex Anderson also had 2 hits. Freshman Zac Hernandez got the win in a 12-4 win over North Judson. Alex Anderson got the save. Kyle Joyce had 4 hits and Brad Stooksbury had 3. Hebron lost to Hanover Central 2-1. Cody Hayes and Alex Anderson each had a double. Kyle Joyce and Cody Hayes each had 2 hits in a 4-1 loss to Washington twp. Hebron got back in the win column with a 9-1 win over Westville. Kyle Joyce got the complete game win allowing only 1 hit and striking out 11. Damon Wallace and Jarrett Majcher had 3 hits each and Alex Anderson hit a home run. Bryce Hanaway hit a double. The boys lost to Michigan City Marquette 8-7. Damon Wallace had 3 hits and Cody Hayes, Bryce Hanaway and Mike Mikulich each had 3 hits. Hebron beat LaCrosse 18-3 behind 4 hits from Kyle Hernandez and Damon Wallace got the win. Jarrett Majcher had 3 hits and Bryce Hanaway, Brad Stooksbury and Mike Mikulich each had 2 hits. HERNANDEZ 100 HITS Kyle Hernandez was 4-5 with 4 rbi against LaCrosse to give him 102 career hits. Kyle went past 1996 grad Toby Eiler (100 hits) and 1973 grad Mike Broughton (101 hits) into 6th place on the career list. HAYES CLIMBING STRIKEOUT LIST The boys lost an extra inning game to Boone Grove 10-7. Kyle Joyce had 3 hits and Jarrett Majcher added 2. Cody Hayes struck out 6 to move over the 200 mark to 205 for his career and into a tie for 7th place with 2002 grad Bobby Bobowsky and 1961 grad Kirby Kaysen and passing 1984 grad Dale Kaczmarski (201). HAYES THROWS NO-HITTER Cody Hayes threw the 20th no-hitter in Hebron history. Cody struck out 9 and walked 2 in a 13-0 win over Oregon-Davis. Damon Wallace, Kyle Joyce and Brad Stooksbury each had 2 hits. Kyle Hernandez and Alex Anderson each hit a triple. Cody got his 214th career strikeout and passed 1973 grad Pat Murphy (209) into 6th place on the all-time list. Damon Wallace got the win and Alex Anderson the save in a 12-4 win over Kouts. Damon was also 5-5 with a home run and 4 rbi. Kyle Joyce, Alex Anderson, Brad Stooksbury and Mike Mikulich each had 2 hits. Kyle Hernandez got a hit to raise his total to 105 tying him with 2006 grad Andrew Stalbaum for 5th place. Damon Wallace raised his career hit total to 91 and into 9th place. ANDERSON TIES SAVE RECORD Senior Alex Anderson got his 3rd save of the season to raise his career total to 6. Alex tied 1991 grad Jeff Brooks for the career lead. Hebron evened their PCC record at 3-3 with a 6-1 win over South Central. Zac Hernandez allowed only 3 hits to get the win. Damon Wallace and Bryce Hanaway each had 3 hits. Damon passed Henry Hamann into 8th place on the career hit list. HAYES MOVES UP STRIKEOUT LIST The boys lost to Andrean 8-2. Damon Wallace got 2 hits. Cody Hayes had 8 strikeouts in the loss to move past 1967 grad Bill Smock (218) and 1982 grad Terry Hough (218) into 4th place with 222 career strikeouts. Cody Hayes got the complete game shutout with 12 strikeouts in a win over Highland 3-0. Damon Wallace had 2 hits and Alex Anderson and Mike Mikulich had rbi's. Hebron beat Lowell 12-2 behind a complete game win by Damon Wallace. Damon also got 3 hits to go over the 100 career hit mark to 101. Kyle Hernandez got 2 hits and 4 rbi's including a home run and raised his career hit total to 108. Cody Hayes and Alex Anderson had 2 hits and 3 rbi's each. Bryce Hanaway, Jarrett Majcher and Kyle Joyce each had 2 hits. The boys lost to Morgan 10-2 to drop their PCC round robin record to 3-4. Damon Wallace had 2 hits to lead the team. Kyle Hernandez had 1 hit to raise his career total to 109 and into a tie for 4th place with 1990 grad Shawn Ryan. JOYCE THROWS NO-HITTER Kyle Joyce threw his 2nd career no-hitter in a 22-0 rout of Covenant Christian. The 22 runs is the most since a 2005 win over Hanover Central in the PCC tourney (23-9). The Hebron record for runs in a game is 32 in 1943 against Boone Grove. Kyle joined elite company in a tie for 1st with 2 career no-hitters. Bob Felton (1949), Kirby Kaysen (1961), Bob Ellenson (1964), Bill Smock (1967) and Pat Murphy (1973) also have thrown 2 no-hitters for Hebron. Hebron had 8 extra base hits in the game, including a triple and home run by Cameron Wignall, a double and a home run by Kyle Hernandez, a double and triple for Damon Wallace and a double by Cody Hayes and Kyle Joyce. Kyle Hernandez had 7 rbi's and Cody Hayes and Cameron Wignall had 5 rbi's each. HERNANDEZ, WALLACE AND HAYES MOVING UP HIT LIST Cody Hayes had 3 hits to raise his career total to 92 and into 10th place on the career hit list. Damon Wallace had 3 hits to raise his total to 106 and passed Andrew Stalbaum into 6th place. Kyle Hernandez had 3 hits and raised his total to 112 and passed Shawn Ryan and 1999 grad Ryan Eberhardt into 3rd place on the career hit list. 1991 grad Jeff Brooks has 113 hits in 2nd place and 1996 grad Tony Floros is in 1st place with 122 career hits. Hebron beat Kouts 10-0 in the opening round of the PCC tourney. Cody Hayes threw a 1-hitter with 17 strikeouts and also had 3 hits and 2 rbi's. Bryce Hanaway had 2 hits and 3 rbi's and Alex Anderson had 2 hits. The boys got their 16th win of the season with a 10-0 victory over East Chicago. The 16 wins ties 3 other Hebron teams for the 4th most in a season and equals last season's win total. Zac Hernandez pitched the shutout. Bryce Hanaway, Brad Stooksbury, Cody Hayes and Mike Mikulich all had 2 hits. HERNANDEZ NEARING CAREER HIT AND RBI RECORDS Kyle Hernandez moved into 2nd place on the career hit list and the career runs batted in list. Kyle has 84 rbi's which is 1 behind 1996 grad Toby Eiler and has 114 career hits which is 8 behind 1996 grad Tony Floros. Kyle also has 5 triples this season which is 2nd behind the 7 hit in 1955 by LeRoy Urbas. WALLACE NEARING SEASON HIT RECORD Damon Wallace got his 41st hit this season against East Chicago. Tony Floros set the record of 51 in 1996. Damon is tied for 4th place on the list. Damon also has 12 doubles this season which is the 2nd most. Ryan Eberhart set the record of 14 in 1998. Hebron lost to Washington twp in the PCC tourney semi-finals 6-2. Kyle Hernandez had a 2-run home run to become the career rbi leader at Hebron with 86. Kyle Joyce had a double and Alex Anderson scored the other run. WALLACE MAKES ALL-CONFERENCE Senior Damon Wallace was voted 2nd in the PCC all-conference voting. The boys beat North Judson in the semi-finals of the sectional 10-0. Kyle Joyce pitched the shutout with 10 strikeouts. Kyle Hernandez, Alex Anderson and Damon Wallace each had 3 hits. SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS Hebron beat Rochester 8-2 for the sectional championship. The title is the 2nd in school history with the other coming in 1977. Cody Hayes got the win with 12 strikeouts. Alex Anderson had 3 hits including a double and a home run. Kyle Hernandez had 2 hits and 3 rbi's including his 7th triple of the season which ties the single season record. Kyle Joyce had a double. CAREER AND SINGLE SEASON HIT WATCH Kyle Hernandez has 120 career hits and is just 2 away from equaling the school record. Damon Wallace has 112 career hits and Cody Hayes has 99 career hits. Junior Kyle Joyce has moved into 14th place with 86 hits. Damon Wallace has 46 hits this season and is 5 away from the single season record. FATHER / SON SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS Alex Anderson joined his father, John as Hebron baseball sectional champions. John was a junior second baseman on the 1977 team and hit .347. In the 6-5 win in the sectional final against Crown Point, John had a sacrifice and a walk and scored a run in 3 plate appearances. Alex was 3-4 with 3 runs and 3 rbi's including a double and a home run in this year's final. HAYES THROWS 2ND NO-HITTER Cody Hayes threw his 2nd no-hitter of the season in a 10-0 win over Bishop Noll. Cody struck out 6 and scored 2 runs. Kyle Hernandez tripled and had 3 rbi's. Damon Wallace and Kyle Joyce each had 2 hits and Mike Mikulich had 2 rbi's. Brad Stooksbury had a double and scored twice. Cody tied the record of 2 no-hitters in a season in 1947 by Bob Felton and 1963 by Bob Ellenson. The team has set a new record with 3 no-hitters this season. HAYES MOVING UP SEASON AND CAREER LISTS Cody also got his 100th career hit in the game. The win was the 8th this season for Cody which is the 4th most in a season and gives him 16 for his career which is 9th. Cody also has 104 strikeouts this season which is the 8th most in a season. The 104 strikeouts this season gives him 271 for his career which is 4th on the all-time list. Cody also got his 4th shutout of the season which ties the record set in 1947 by Bob Felton and in 1972-73 by Pat Murphy. Cody now has 6 career shutouts and is tied for 2nd with Jeff Brooks and 2 behind Pat Murphy who has the school record of 8. REGIONAL CHAMPS Hebron beat Fort Wayne Bishop Luers 3-2 for the regional championship. The boys joined the 1982 girls volleyball team, the 2000-01 and 2001-02 girls basketball teams and the 2011 softball team as the only regional champions in school history. Kyle Joyce, Cody Hayes and Damon Wallace all pitched with Wallace picking up the win in relief. Kyle Hernandez had an rbi single in the bottom of the 7th to score Jarrett Majcher for the win. Brad Stooksbury had 2 hits including a double and an rbi. HERNANDEZ TIES HIT RECORD/SETS SEASON RBI RECORD Kyle's game winning hit was the 122nd of his career tying the school record. Kyle's rbi was the 43rd this season which passes the old record of 42 set in 1994 by Toby Eiler. Kyle also had a triple in the 1st regional game to give him 8 for the season for a new single season record. Damon Wallace had 3 hits on the day giving him 115 for his career and 49 for the season. Damon passed Jeff Brooks on the all-time hit list into 3rd place and is 2 hits away from Tony Floros' single season hit record of 51. HERNANDEZ, WALLACE AND HAYES MOVE UP GAMES PLAYED LIST Kyle Hernandez has now played in 101 career games at Hebron which is 3rd behind Tony Floros (109) and Ed Muffet (107). Damon Wallace has played in 99 (4th place) and Cody Hayes has played in 98 (5th place). STOOKSBURY HAS PUTOUT RECORD Senior catcher Brad Stooksbury has 701 career putouts. Brad set the career record earlier this season in the game against Hanover Central. The next closest are Jake Wheeler 539,Tim Hough 514 and Marc Patrick 472. HEBRON FALLS IN SEMI-STATE The boys lost to Northfield 5-4 in 9 innings at the South Bend semi-state at Coveleski Stadium. Kyle Hernandez broke the career hit record with a 2-run double. Cody Hayes struck out 13 in 7 1/3 innings. Kyle Joyce and Jon Monetta had 2 hits each. The team finished the season with a 20-9 record.
