2011 SEASON Hebron is the defending PCC round robin champions. The team finished 2nd in the PCC meet last season. The boys started the season by beating LaCrosse and Covenant Christian. Hebron won 13 of the 16 events. Jasen Egolf had 3 first place finishes in the meet. Alex Shrum picked up wins in the pole vault and 110 hurdles. The team beat knox by winning 15 of the 16 events. Trevor Lewin won the 200 and 400, Jasen Egolf won the 1600 and 3200, Alex Shrum won the pole vault, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, and Nick Alsop won the high jump and long jump. Hebron beat Hanover Central and Morgan twp to go to 3-0 in the conference. Hebron won the 3200 and 1600 relays. Jasen Egolf (1600, 3200), Alex Shrum (pv,110 hurdles), Nick Alsop (hj) and Trevor Lewin (800) picked up wins. The boys moved to 5-0 in the PCC with wins over Boone Grove and Washington twp. Jasen Egolf won the 1600, 3200, 800 and 3200 relay to lead the team. Nick Alsop (long jump and high jump), Trevor Lewin (400), Zach Frey (shot put), Alex Shrum (pole vault) and the 1600 relay team. Alex Shrum went over the 100 point plateau to join the Century Club. KOUTS INVITE CHAMPS Hebron won the Kouts Invitational with 112 points. The championship is the 4th for Hebron and the first since 2000. Jasen Egolf won the 800, 1600, 3200 and teamed up with Hunter Barbian, Trevor Lewin and Kyle Schmidt to win the 3200 relay. Alex Shrum recorded the only other 1st for Hebron by going 12' in the pole vault. Jasen Egolf went over 100 points for the season to join the Century Club. PCC ROUND ROBIN CHAMPIONS The boys beat South Central and Kouts to finish the round robin season at 7-0. The championship is the 2nd in a row and 12th overall. Ryan Witt won the 1600 and 3200. Other event winners were Cody Artuso (long jump), Trevor Lewin (400), Alex Shrum (pole vault) and Jasen Egolf (800). Hebron tied River Forest 66-66. The tie is only the 4th tie in 71 seasons of boys track at Hebron. The other ties came in 1961 (Andrean), 1970 (Boone Grove) and 2005 (Kouts). Jasen Egolf led the team with wins in the 3200 relay, 800, 1600 and 3200. Zach Frey won the discus and Alex Shrum won the pole vault. Hunter Barbian, Trevor Lewin and Kyle Schmidt joined Jasen to win the 3200 relay and the 1600 relay team of Hunter, Trevor, Ryan Patz and Anthony Priestas also won. Hunter joined the Century Club in the meet. The boys finished 4th at the Washington twp relays. Nick Alsop and Cody Artuso joined the Century Club in the meet. PCC MEET CHAMPS Hebron won their 14th PCC meet championship and first since 1995. The title broke Hanover Central's 6 year run. Jasen Egolf made all-conference in the 800, 1600 and 3200 relay. Hunter Barbian, Trevor Lewin and Kyle Schmidt were also on the 3200 relay team and made all-conference. Trevor ran the 2nd fastest time in the 400 with a 52.33, the record is 52.30. The team finished 2nd with 85 points at the Rensselaer sectional. Jasen Egolf was the sectional champion in the 1600 and 800. Alex Shrum was also the sectional champion in the pole vault. Sectional champions also included the 1600 relay team of Hunter Barbian, Trevor Lewin, Alex Shrum and Blake Wallace. Other regional qualifiers were the 3200 relay team of Jasen Egolf, Hunter Barbian, Trevor Lewin and Kyle Schmidt, the 400 relay team of Nick Alsop, Cody Artuso, Blake Wallace and Eric Barzycki, Hunter Barbian (400), Trevor Lewin (800), Kyle Schmidt (3200) and Nick Alsop (high jump). Jasen now has 38 1st place finishes this season to tie Joe DePra in 1998 for the most in a season and also has 219 points which is 2nd in a season. Jasen is also 2nd in career points and 1st place finishes. Blake Wallace joined the century club in the meet. EGOLF TO STATE, TEAM FINISHES 16TH The boys finished 16th at the Valpo regional with 17 points. The 17 points is the most since the 1996 season. Jasen Egolf finished 2nd in the 1600 by .6 of a second to qualify for the state meet for the 2nd year in a row. Hebron will have a participant at the state meet for the 16th year and 5th year in a row. Jasen's time of 4:26.73 was the 11th fastest in school history. Trevor Lewin ran the 7th fastest 800 in school history (1:59.03) to finish 5th, Hunter Barbian 12th in the 400 with the 10th fastest time in school history (53.19), Kyle Schmidt finished 12th in the 3200, the 400 relay team finished 13th, the 1600 relay team finished 14th, Alex Shrum just missed qualifying for the state meet with a 4th place finish in the pole vault. Alex vaulted a personal best 13' 0" which is also the 8th highest in school history.
