Doug Godbolt is coaching his 2nd girls varsity season at Hebron. 

This is the 56th recorded season of girls varsity basketball at Hebron and the 42nd season in the modern era.  The first season was 1920-21, the girls also played the following year.  The girls then played from 1927-1938.  Basketball at Hebron resumed in 1973-74 to the present.

The girls opened the season with a 47-29 loss to Wheeler.  Danielle Roeske led the team with 9 points and 11 rebounds.  Emily Nilsen added 7 points, 12 rebounds and 3 steals.  Madison Bell had a 3-pointer to move into a tie for 6th on the career list with Jill Rakoczy (1999) and Jennifer Coates (2000).

The team lost to Lowell 50-36.  Madison Bell led the team with 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Madison went over the 300 point mark for her career and moved into a tie for 9th on the career assist list with 1998 grad Jenelle Provo and also moved into 9th place on the career blocked shot list.  Bailee Torres added 11 points with 2 3-pointers to move into 39th place on the career 3-pointer list.  Mia Riese also moved into 39th place on the career 3-pointer list.

Hebron opened the PCC round robin schedule with a 50-42 win over Boone Grove.  Madison Bell had 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and a blocked shot.  Mia Riese added 11 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 5 rebounds.  Emily Nilsen had 11 rebounds.  Madison passed 2007 grad Cindi Boricich into 4th place on the career 3-pointer list.  Mia Riese moved into the top 50 on the career steals list. Emily Nilsen moved into a tie for 25th on the career blocked shot list.

The girls evened their PCC record to 1-1 with a 38-31 loss to Morgan.  Emily Nilsen had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Danielle Roeske added 11 rebounds and 3 steals.  Emily moved into 20th place on the career blocked shot list.  Madison Bell moved into 8th place on the career assist list and 38th on the career scoring list.

Hebron beat Griffith 32-31.  Madison Bell led the team with 16 points and 6 steals.  Emily Nilsen added 11 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Emily moved into18th place in career blocked shots.  Madison moved up 3 spots to 35th on the career scoring list.

The girls lost to Bishop Noll 43-29.  Mia Riese had 10 points.  Madison Bell made a 3-pointer to give her 50 for her career and tie 2010 grad Julie Huettner for 3rd place.  Emily Nilsen had 2 blocked shots to move into a 15th place tie with 1993 grad Shauna Boomsma on the career list.

Hebron lost to LaCrosse 47-33 in the homecoming game.  Madison Bell had 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and a blocked shot.  Danielle Roeske had 10 rebounds and 6 steals and Emily Nilsen blocked 2 shots.  Mia Riese had 6 points to move over 100 points for her career.

The girls lost to Kouts 59-28.  Danielle Roeske led the team with 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Emily Nilsen added 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots.  Emily moved into 10th place on the career blocked shot list.

Hebron lost in the first round of the Hanover Central Tourney to Hanover 65-45.  Madison Bell, Danielle Roeske and Cayla Rokosz each had 14 points to lead the team.  Darlene Chenault had 8 rebounds and Emily Nilsen had 7 rebounds.  Madison had 2 3-pointers to move into 3rd on the career list and also had 3 steals to move past 2013 grad Bre Lewin and 2009 grad Molly Marshall into 10th on the career steals list.  Mia Riese had 3 assists to move into the top 50 on the career list.

The girls got their 3rd win of the season by beating Whiting 61-24.  Danielle Roeske had 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals to lead the team.  Madison Bell added 14 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals.  Taylor Wheeler had 10 points and 5 rebounds and Emily Nilsen had 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.  Madison's 9 assists are the 5th most in a game and ties 5 other players including her mom, Becky on the list.  Madison also moved up 2 spots into 30th place on the career scoring list. Madison moved past her cousin, 2001 grad Erin Biggs, into 9th on the career steals list. Emily tied Madison in 9th place on the career blocked shot list.

The team finished 6th at the Hanover tourney with a loss to Knox 58-52.  Madison Bell had 14 points and 4 assists, Danielle Roeske had 11 points and 9 rebounds and Taylor Wheeler had 5 steals.  Danielle scored her 100th career point in the game.  Madison moved past 1988 grad Jayme Hernandez into 7th on the career assist list and moved past 2008 grad Elizabeth Bennett into 8th place on the career blocked shot list.

Hebron beat Washington 43-38.  Madison Bell had 15 points and 4 steals.  Emily Nilsen had 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.  Mia Riese had 4 steals.  Madison moved past 1992 grad Kim Vann and 2002 grad Lynn Poncsak into 7th place on the career steals list. 

The girls lost to South Central 42-81.  Mia Riese had 20 points and 4 steals.  Madison Bell blocked 4 shots.  Mia moved into the top 40 in career assists and the top 30 in career steals.

The team lost to River Forest 51-40.  Emily Nilsen led the team with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.  Madison Bell added 5 steals and 4 blocked shots.  Madison tied her mom Becky in career games played with 71.

The girls lost to Knox 51-41.  Madison Bell had 16 points to move past Lauren Carlson (2014), Christy Reick (2012) and Jen Marshall (2002) into 24th place on the career scoring list.  Emily Nilsen had 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  Emily moved into a tie for 7th on the career blocked shot list with 2006 grad Jessica Sheets.  Danielle Roeske had 12 rebounds and Mia Riese had 5 assists.

Hebron lost in the first round of the PCC tourney to South Central 81-41.  Madison Bell had 10 points and 4 assists and Mia Riese had 10 points and 6 steals.  Emily Nilsen had 12 rebounds.  Mia moved into 25th place on the career steals list.  Emily passed 2006 grad Jessica Sheets into 7th place on the career blocked shot list and Madison tied Jessica for 8th place.

BELL WINS DOLD AWARD

Madison Bell won the James W. Dold award for mental attitude.  Madison is the 4th Hebron girl to win in the 37 year history of the award.  The other 3 Hebron winners were Lauren Bechtold (2002), Molly Marshall (2009) and Christy Reick (2012).

The girls lost to West Central 59-41.  Madison Bell had 9 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots.  Madison moved past Lynn Poncsak (2002), Bre Lewin (2013) and Heidi Freund (2006) into 21st place on the career scoring list.  Baillee Torres made her 10th career 3-pointer to move into 26th place on the career list.  Mia Riese had 5 assists and 2 steals.  Mia's 2 steals moved her into 25th place on the career list.  Emily Nilsen had 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.  Emily and Madison tied 2009 grad Rebah Seidler in 6th place on the career blocked shot list.

Hebron lost to Rensselaer 72-55.  Madison Bell and Mia Riese each had 16 points and Danielle Roeske added 14 points.  Madison had 6 assists, Danielle Roeske had 9 rebounds and Cayla Rokosz had 8 rebounds. 

The team lost to North Judson 63-35.  Madison Bell had 16 points and Danielle Roeske had 9 rebounds.

The girls lost to Kankakee Valley 61-50.  Danielle Roeske had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team.  Madison Bell had 13 points including her 500th career point.  Madison became the 21st Hebron girl to score 500 career points and moved past 2007 grad Cortney Robinson (502) into 20th place.  Emily Nilsen had 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Emily moved past Madison's mom, Becky, into 5th place on the career blocked shot list.  Mia Riese had 3 assists to move into the top 30 on the career list. 

Hebron beat Westville 74-47 to finish the regular season with a 5-16 overall record and 3-4 in the PCC for a tie for 5th.  Madison Bell had 24 points, 6 assists, 8 rebounds and 5 3-pointers.  Madison passed 1997 grad Amanda Novina and 1983 grad Gail Dilley into 18th place on the career scoring list.  She also moved past 2006 grad Lauren Kalis into 2nd on the career 3-pointer list.  Danielle Roeske added 13 points and 11 rebounds, Cayla Rokosz 10 points, Haleigh Walstra 11 points and 9 rebounds and Emily Nilsen 12 rebounds.

The girls beat Whiting 56-34 in the first round of the sectional.  It is Hebron's 1st sectional win since 2009.  Madison Bell had 20 points and 7 assists, Cayla Rokosz had 4 steals and Mia Riese had 6 rebounds to lead the team.  Madison moved past her mom Becky on the career scoring list into 17th place.  Madison also became the 7th Hebron girl to get 200 career assists.

Hebron beat Boone Grove 53-29 to advance to the sectional championship game.  Danielle Roeske had 12 points and 7 rebounds to lead the team.  Emily Nilsen had 10 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.  Mia Riese had 10 points and 3 assists and Madison Bell had 5 assists and 4 steals.  Mia moved into the top 30 on the career assist list and the top 20 on the career steals list.  Madison moved past her mom, Becky, into 6th place on the career assist list and moved past 1995 grad Danielle Armstrong and tied 2007 grad Cindi Boricich in 5th place on the career steals list.

The girls lost to Bishop Noll 40-21 in the championship game of the sectional.  The team finished the season with a 7-17 record.  Madison Bell led the team with 7 points.  Madison moved past 2007 grad Cindi Boricich into 5th place on the career steals list.  Emily Nilsen scored her 100th career point and grabbed her 200th career rebound in the game.  Danielle Roeske scored her 200th career point.

BELL MAKES ALL-CONFERENCE

Senior Madison Bell was selected #9 in the all-conference voting done by the PCC coaches.  There have been 56 PCC all-conference selections for Hebron since the start of the PCC for girls basketball in 1974.  Madison made all-conference twice and joins 8 other Hebron girls to accomplish this.  Four girls have made all-conference 3 times.  Jill Bell (Madison's aunt) and Michelle Armstrong made all-conference all 4 years.
